A rooster from Canterbury Tales almost defeats the Hogs…

Y’all this football season has been crazy so far; so many ups and downs, and I love it!

My husband says I’ve been a little hard on Coach Bielema. Seriously, we barely beat Coastal Carolina. It’s time the man packs up and heads out. We need new blood in Fayetteville, that includes replacing Jeff Long.

If you know anything about me, you know I’m a huge Gus Malzahn fan. I’ve adopted an entirely different team in our same conference out of love for the Malzahn family, WAR EAGLE! But hell, if Gus wants to come home to the Hill, I’m in! I’m also 100% OK with him going to be the offensive coordinator for my Cowboys, or the Panthers and reunite with SuperCam, you know, whatever works.

10- I don’t usually like to be wrong, BUT, I love that Iowa walloped Ohio State yesterday and that I picked the game wrong. I was a little surprised, and even more so surprised that JT Barrett threw 4 interceptions. I’d say that all but tanks his Heisman campaign.

9- I’d say the Penn State/Ohio State losses are stacking the odds against the Big Ten to make the College Football Playoffs, but crazier things have happened before. Speaking of the Nittany Lions, some kind of luck to lose on a last second field goal. Michigan State played a great game. Long weather delays didn’t stop the Spartans as they went on to upset the Lions. Michigan State has to play in Columbus for the #1 spot in the Big Ten East, right now, my money is on Sparty!

8-The doubters are really lining up against Miami lately. But maybe yesterday’s win over Virginia Tech was impressive enough to silence them, at least for a week. Malik Rosier has talent, he rushed for 84 yards and threw for 193, accounting for three touchdowns. The thorn in Miami’s side is the fact that he also had three interceptions. But, the Miami defense controlled the game and only allowed the Hokies 4 yards per play. A-Rod and J-Lo were at the game, clearly Miami had to win then!

7-Stanford had not played in snow since 1935, but yesterday as it fell heavily, Washington State took this one away from the Cardinals. Stanford was limited to 105 passing yards, whether that way play calling or weather related, it hurt. Luke Falk led Washington State with 337 yards and three touchdowns to become the career passing yards leader in the Pac-12.

6-My apologies to my USC friends, here’s looking at you Steph. I picked this one wrong, and I should feel ashamed of myself! Khalil Tate proved me wrong, throwing only 2 touchdowns with 2 interceptions, he wasn’t what I thought. Who knew Ronald Jones II was going to go off and run 3 in?? Sam Darnold was back to what I previously thought he was with 311 yards and two TDs for the Trojans. Darnold is 11-0 in the Coliseum, but he’s thrown 11 interceptions already. LenDale White, one of the best, was the last Trojan to rush consecutive 1000 yard rushing seasons, atta boy Jones.

5-Jaleen Hurts is such an anomaly to me. I just don’t think he’s that great. But the Tide always finds a way to win. His downfield accuracy is such a downfall. But as per the usual, the Alabama defense is insanely talented, though injuries are starting to stack up. LSU has to find another answer at QB, Etling is just not it.

4-Bedlam was insane yesterday. Y’all the first half included 76 points alone. Say what you want about Baker Mayfield, but the kid shows up for big games. He threw an interception in the first quarter yesterday, but he followed that up by breaking the Oklahoma school record with 598 passing yards and 5 touchdowns. Justice Hill is a phenomenal running back, 220 yards on just 29 carries, please end up on an NFL team that I like! Marquise Brown had 265 receiving yards yesterday, sign him up NOW Jerry Jones!

3-Living here on the coast of North Carolina, my son has mysteriously fallen in love with Clemson. We don’t live near there, we have no idea how this happened. But he loves the Tigers. And truth be told, I sort of do too. Dabo is keeping the games close this year and that worries me a tad. But Kelly Bryant is developing and they will be OK long term. Thank God for Brent Venable’s defense.

2-Auburn left me feeling encouraged yesterday. Jarrett Stidham threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns and that made my heart happy. Kerryon Johnson was explosive and stayed healthy, thank God. Georgia is coming next week, and that makes me nervous, but at least it’s a home game for my Tigers.

1-Where on Earth has TJ Hammonds been? Thank God for him yesterday, or the Hogs would have lost Homecoming. Y’all that game was just flat embarrassing. The Chanticleers, what the hell is that? A fierce, fictional rooster…of course. We play LSU next, this should be fun. The typical Arkansas thing would be to beat LSU even with the horrible play so far this season, and of course then Bielema stays. GAG. You hate to hope for a loss, but alas, here we are Razorback fans.
