Where’s your creativity Hollywood?

Hollywood use to be the land of creativity…but the trends, they are a changing!

I miss Demi and Wilmer

I mentioned in a previous blog post this week how sad I was to hear about the overdose of Demi Lovato. It’s been good to read that she is recovering well and is checking into rehab. I hated when she and Wilmer Valderrama broke up. Selfishly, I just loved them together. And honestly, as a Demi fan, she seemed to be doing a lot better when they were in a relationship. I’ve read online that Wilmer has been to the hospital several times to visit Demi, her situation is a stark reminder that who you surround yourself is such a crucial decision in your life.

Has Priyanka Chopra even had time to break wind in front of Nick Jonas?

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are engaged after 2 days. OK OK, more like 2 months. But I’m not sure that really sounds any better. I guess one could argue, “when you know, you know.” But man, that’s quick. More power to them if they are happy, good for each other and it works!

#MeToo Movement in Hollywood

The entertainment industry has been consumed with the #MeToo movement with allegations abounding. This week, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced they would not be pressing charges against former Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick for alleged sexual assault. Westwick was accused of rape in a public Facebook post stemming from an incident in 2014. One official document stated that three different women accused Westwick of assault all in 2014. Prosecutors announced that after investigating the circumstances and speaking with the witnesses there was not enough evidence to pursue Mr. Westwick. They cited “insufficient evidence.” These situations are tricky. Clearly, we were not there. We have no idea what happened. If the former star that played Chuck Bass really assaulted those women it’s horrible that he is getting off without punishment. If for some reason the charges were fabricated that leads to an enormous problem down the road for true victims who seek justice. Moral of the story, do the right thing. Do no harm. And if something does happen, get help immediately.

In light of the #MeToo movement, the chairman and CEO of CBS is now being accused of sexual misconduct. I mean really, these folks are dropping like flies.

Rayna James sings one last song

Connie Britton reprised her role of Rayna James on Nashville in the series finale. Truth be told, after they killed her character off in season five I quit watching. I read that Britton wasn’t keen on reprising her role, but the opportunity to sing one more time on the Ryman stage with the cast she spent all those seasons with was too enticing. I was a huge fan of NashvilleCan I get an “amen” for Deacon? I lost interest as the drama seemed to take over and then Rayna died. But with the way the entertainment industry goes today, who knows, the show could make a comeback in a couple of years.

Where’s your creativity Hollywood?

Speaking of shows that have been reprised, I can’t decide how I feel about it. Maybe its because none of my favorite have come back…here’s looking at you Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, West Wing, just to name a few. Or even shows I liked growing up, does anyone else remember Sisters with Sela Ward? I was never a Roseanne fan, so that reprisal, cancellation and now 2nd reprisal was of no interest to me. I read the other day Fraiser may make a comeback, again, not a show I enjoyed. I also don’t like the lack of creativity. Make something new you Hollywood wonks. Earn those paychecks that have more zeroes than sense!

A song came out in 2008 that I loved then, and even today, “Hollywood’s Not America” by Ferras. If you’ve never heard it, you should totally check it out, here.

I thought I’d leave you with the lyrics today…

Born Helena Jane
With a restless soul
She moved west to California
Became a center-fold
But once you change your name
Well the pieces fall
Now she hardly recognizes herself at all
And there’s never any rain, when you want it
A hollow little game, and you’ve won it
Looking for a thrill but you’ve done it all
So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home
Remember Hollywood’s not America
So long put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home
Remember Hollywood’s not America
O yeah!
And everybody heres, from somewhere else
You could make a million dollars, but you might lose yourself
And you can take the heat will your heart go cold
They say acting’s just pretending, even that gets old
And there’s never any rain, when you want it
A hollow little game, and you’ve won it
Looking for a thrill but you’ve done it all
So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home
Remember Hollywood’s not America
So long put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home
Remember Hollywood’s not America
O yeah!
And I know what to do when
I know that you
You can be anything you want to be
So long, put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home
Remember Hollywood’s not America
So long put your blue jeans back on girl
Go home
Remember Hollywood’s not America
O yeah!
It’s not America
